How to set up email on an iPhone or iPad

This guide explains how to connect your hosting email account to the Mail app on an iPhone or iPad.

The Apple Mail app is included with all iOS and iPadOS devices and allows you to access your email without needing to install any additional software. Once your hosting email account is configured, you will be able to send and receive messages directly from your phone or tablet.

If your email address was created through your Falcomms hosting account, you will need to enter your mail server settings manually during setup. These settings allow your device to connect securely to the hosting mail server where your messages are stored.

If you are unsure what your email server settings are, please refer to our guide on email settings for your hosting account before continuing.

In this article, we will cover

  • How to add a new email account
  • Which mail server settings to use
  • How to test your email connection

Open the Mail settings

To begin, open the Mail account settings on your iPhone or iPad.

On your device:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap Mail
  3. Select Accounts
  4. Tap Add Account

This screen allows you to add new email accounts to the Mail app.

Choose the account type

You will see a list of common email providers such as iCloud, Google and Microsoft Exchange.

Because your hosting email account is not one of these services, select Other.

On the next screen, choose Add Mail Account. This option allows you to manually enter the settings for your hosting email account.

Enter your account details

You will now be asked to enter some basic information about your email account.

  • Name – the name people will see when you send email
  • Email address – your full email address
  • Password – the password for your email account
  • Description – a label to help you identify the account on your device

After entering these details, tap Next to continue.

Enter mail server settings

Your device will now ask for the incoming and outgoing mail server information.

For most hosting accounts we recommend using IMAP, as this keeps your email synchronised across multiple devices such as your phone, tablet and computer.

Incoming Server

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
  • User Name: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

Outgoing Server

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
  • User Name: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

Your device will automatically verify these settings by connecting to the mail server.

Finish setup

Once the settings have been verified successfully, your email account will be added to the Mail app.

You should now be able to send and receive email from your iPhone or iPad.

If your device reports a connection error, double-check that your username is entered as your full email address and that the password is correct.

After setup is complete, you can open the Mail app to view your inbox and begin using your email account.
